If you are getting the red light/LED, try to start the ps3 by plugging in the controller via the usb cable, and then press the ps-button on the controller. If you're not getting the red light/LED, unplug the power cable again and wait at least a couple of minutes before plugging it in again (make sure it's properly connected at both ends).
Yes but if you have an early model you will need to do alot like repaste and clean it. If you have a later fat those are much better, but overall just get a slim if you are able to. Fats are not reliable unless you know how to work with them. The fat uses a 3 prong power cable that many monitors use, it cannot be used with a ps4 power cable.
Posted: Jul 23, 2011. Options. Sounds like an overheaeting problem. I would open it up and clean it out, make sure that air vents are not obstructed or occluded by dust/debris. Make sure that you also clean your power supply and provide for adequate circulation. Check that the fan is working right and clean it as well.
