Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S review: Build & Handling. The lens is 25% lighter and 18% shorter than the Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 E ED VR in Nikon’s F-mount lens lineup. Whereas the slower Z 24-70mm f/4 S has a retractable design this lens doesn’t, meaning the zoom ring doesn’t need to be twisted to extend it to 24mm before it can be used.

Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f2.8E ED VR - A high-performance, versatile workhorse lens Nikon's legendary workhorse range has had a facelift in the form of this 24-70mm f2.8E VR. Designed for FX sensors but also fully functional on smaller DX-format cameras, this lens is a redesign on a classic focal range that has graced the front of many a camera due It is an update to the short-lived Nikon 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED that was introduced in 2002 and discontinued in 2006, and it might also replace the older Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF that is still in production as of today. With an equivalent focal length of 36-128mm on DX sensor, it is better suited to be used on full-frame cameras. The Nikon 24-120/4 VR is a consumer lens. I doubt that any sample made today will endure 20 years of constant use without needing repair, as can Nikon's professional lenses like the 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-D. This 24-120 has a lot of plastic in it, and depends on the internal motor to focus the lens, not a motor in the camera. The AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR had a great deal to live up to, and it was bigger, heavier and more expensive than its predecessor. However, there is no doubt that this lens is superior optic. The inclusion of VR definitely makes it a more appealing option for stills and video shooters. Above: Nikon 24-70/2.8G at 50mm, f2.8. At 50mm the 24-70/2.8E VR looks just a tad softer in the center than its predecessor. DX-corner is a bit mushy but still a little better than the 24-70/2.8G. And the clear lead of the new lens in the FX-corner continues. The VR version: Great. But, I never liked the long skinny ergonomics of the 24-70 after having previously owned the 28-70 f/2.8 Nikon. In the end: Sold the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and have been all around happier with the Tamron 24 - 70 f/2.8 G2. All my Tamron glass also worked fine on the Z7. Some needed a tap in console update to get working though. The AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR. "Right above the focusing ring and next to the Nikon name is the distance indicator window, which tells you in feet and meters where the lens is focused at any given point. To the right of the distance indicator window is the letter N, meaning the lens has Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat, an incredibly effective yP6XB1I.
