Anybody here using extension tubes with the canon 50mm f1.8 STM lens? I used extension tubes with the older 50mm 1.8 II, it works and gets you closer but I eventually got a real macro lens. Get a cheap set of kenko (or ebay) tubes and experiment for yourself.

Don't buy the Canon. Kenco also makes the extension tubesthey're cheaper then Canon. At B&H 12mm is $80 for Canon and $60 for Kenco, both do exactly the same thing. If you have a little more to spend, Kenco has a set of 3 tubes for $169. 12, 20 and 36mm tubes. They can be stacked to give you different results.
